We believe that there’s a sweet spot where mindfulness, health, environmental stewardship and enjoyment overlap. That’s where our NOURISH-U courses take you, and that’s where we’re truly nourished. The result is a healthy body, a comfortable weight and an eco-clean conscience … for the long haul. You’ll lose weight, but you won’t feel like you’re on a diet. You’ll have a healthier body, but you won’t ever feel deprived (in fact, you’ll likely end up enjoying food more). And, perhaps best of all, you’ll be at peace with what you eat and what you serve your family.

Why join My Nourish Mentor?
Because you worry that the weight will NEVER come off. Because walking the aisles of a supermarket frustrates you … what to buy … what to trust … how to afford it? And because you long to cook nourishing meals, for yourself and your family, on a regular basis, but have no idea how to fit it into your schedule.
I hear you. Ooooh, do I hear you.
Thirteen years ago, when I was diagnosed with some pretty scary stuff, my doctor told me I needed to change my lifestyle, “or else.” The bummer was, I thought I had a healthy lifestyle. I was eating things like boneless skinless chicken breasts, and mashed potatoes with no butter, and salads with fat free dressing because I thought they were virtuous choices.
So I leaned into my food writing career to seek out what a “healthy lifestyle” looked like. I sought out nutrition-focused assignments, interviewed the experts and developed recipes with what they deemed healthy ingredients.
As I was playing with this new palette of foods—a panoply of vegetables, whole grains, healthy oils (boy did that go against my grain!) and sustainably sourced seafood and meat—I did some soul searching too. I remembered the deep contentment my friends seemed to have with food when I’d lived in Europe and wondered what part that played in this “healthy lifestyle” I was seeking.
( A lot, as it turns out. )
Food is about much more than what we put in our mouths.
Over the years I learned. I experimented. I payed attention. I discovered that knowing that particular foods were doing so much good for my body—and knowing how to cook them so they fit both my cravings and my schedule—made me want to eat them more.
As my eating patterns gradually, almost subconsciously shifted, the 20 pounds I’d been fighting with for years came off (and stayed off). My lupus diagnosis was reversed, and I feel better at 40 than I ever did in my 20s. And, best of all, even though my free time has shrunk dramatically as a working mom, I’m able to cook healthy, nourishing meals more consistently than ever before … and enjoy doing it (often with my daughter!). Learning how to nourish myself didn’t just change my life, it’s been a win for my whole family.
My Nourish Mentor is born …
The experience was so profound and impactful that teaching others to nourish themselves became my life calling.
I’ve distilled what was a several year journey for me into a 12-week program for you. No, that doesn’t mean I take the journey for you—only you can do that. But if you’re thinking you’ll sign up and then be overwhelmed and “fail,” don’t worry. I’ve designed My Nourish Mentor to work for busy people; no massive time commitment involved.
In 12 weeks, you’ll:
- Be confident walking the aisles, browsing the farmers market, even shopping at the fish counter!
- Have your meals planned, so you don’t have to stress
- Save time and money without it being a chore
- Become so proficient in the kitchen that cooking becomes a joy
- Get to (and stay at!) a comfortable weight, without feeling like you’re on a diet

What is My Nourish Mentor?
The short answer is, My Nourish Mentor is a 12-week online program that will change your life. But there’s more to it than that …
When you sign up for My Nourish Mentor it’s like having me in your kitchen a few times a week. I’ll tell you all the great things leafy greens do for your body. Then I’ll show you how to zip the leaves off a bunch of kale in under 60 seconds (trust me, you can do it … my 5 year old daughter Noe is a whiz at this) and help you whip up Braised Kale Tartines with Feta in 20 minutes that will have your family swooning (if I had a nickel for all the moms who swore that dish worked miracles!).
Let’s talk food for a second.
This is not a dry nutrition course. Nor is it a boring diet (don’t beat yourself up … there’s good reason none of them have ever stuck). This is a fun, enlightening, entirely doable way to change the way you eat … forever.
I challenge you to browse through the “diet and nutrition” books the next time you’re at the bookstore. Notice how many of them have men in white lab coats on their covers. For some unfathomable reason, our society has teased apart food—scrumptious, eyebrow-raising, moaning-so-people-stare food—from health. If food is healthy, it should be s-e-r-i-o-u-s and something that a man in a white lab coat would serve you (preferably not in his office). If it’s goooood, well, then it’s probably bad for us.
Well I’m here to tell you it just ain’t so.
I have been paid a lot of money for many years by magazines like Cooking Light, Health, Prevention and Fitness to come up with recipes for their magazines. Thousands (maybe even millions) of people have cooked my recipes. Why? Because I hold fast to the belief that healthy food can be downright finger lickin’ good.
Is your mouth watering yet? Here’s my secret …
I’ve discovered that to be truly nourished, where you feel comfortable in your body, at peace with what you eat and good about serving it to those you love, you need to know:
- what foods are inherently nutritious
- how to cook those foods so that you enjoy eating them even more than what you ate before
- what foods are safe to eat and easy on the environment
- where to spend your money—and where you can save
- how to quiet your mind to truly enjoy the process of cooking and the experience of eating
- when enough is enough
- how to get rid of the guilt when you choose to indulge
And the entire process—not just the end result—needs to be so fun and enjoyable that you’ll want to keep doing what you’re doing. Which is exactly what My Nourish Mentor does.
Here’s a snapshot of how My Nourish Mentor looks
As soon as you sign up for My Nourish Mentor …
I’ll send you a Five Step Quick-Start Checklist so you get the most you possibly can out of the program and start fundamental shifts in motion from day one. I’ll walk you through an initial evaluation to get you thinking about how you relate to food, and to give you a benchmark to measure your growth against.
Then each week …
I’ll send you an e-mail letting you know that your material is ready. You’ll click on the link and see your curriculum, which will be a mix of fun videos (yes, I do take you into my pantry), short readings, thought-provoking exercises, tasty recipes and more all laid out for you in your Weekly Lesson Plan. At the end of each week, you’ll log one learning on your “My Progress” chart to adopt and practice the following week.
Throughout the week …
You’ll have access to me and your fellow My Nourish Mentorites in the Member Forum any time you like. Ask questions, share what you’re learning, offer support to others and get encouragement from those walking in your shoes.
What can you expect to get out of My Nourish Mentor?
Let’s fast-forward 12 weeks. Picture yourself at the table with your family. Only instead of angst and moaning and tension, there’s peace. You know that what’s on their plates is nourishing them, and that, in turn, nurtures you (and, yes, you feel a twinge of pride that they’re asking for seconds of your Honey-Ginger Roasted Carrots). You feel settled, calm and peaceful in your body and a deep sense of gratitude for what’s on and who’s around the table.
Sound impossible? It’s not.
Mind you, this scenario doesn’t happen overnight; it happens over time. With a few minutes here and a few minutes there, the way My Nourish Mentor was designed to be “ingested,” you’ll gradually shed old assumptions and habits and adopt new, nourishing ones.
And when that happens, anything is possible.
Suddenly, you’ll realize that you don’t even want to eat the way you’ve always eaten. You’ll feel confident browsing the aisles of a grocery store or farmers market. You’ll have more time and be more relaxed, and will enjoy being in the kitchen. You’ll feel more peaceful and at home in your own skin. And you’ll feel good and proud about what you’re feeding yourself and your family.

Here’s a run-down of what you’ll learn each week:
Week 1: Tuning In
You’ll experience a radical shift in the way you approach food from the very first week, when you learn how to be mindful about what you eat.
Week 2: Tooling Up
Are your kitchen tools and equipment working for you or against you? You’ll find out (and what to do about it) this week.
Week 3: Taking Stock
A well-stocked pantry is one of your best defenses against take-out. We’ll shape yours up this week.
Week 4: Basic Cooking Techniques and Portion Sizes
I’ll teach you three basic cooking techniques that will transform your time in the kitchen, and will rock your whole perception of “portion control.”
Week 5: Organic, Sustainable, Seasonal, Local … The Top Line
Sure, these are all great values. But how do they fit into your life (and budget)? You’ll define that this week.
Week 6: Learn to LOVE Your Veggies
Nope, I’m not going to tell you to eat more veggies. I’m going to show you how to crave them so madly you won’t be able to get enough of them.
Week 7: Get Connected
What good is it to want to eat local if you don’t know where to go? This week, we’ll plug you into your local food scene.
Week 8: Get Your Grains
Whole grains are one of the pillars of a nourishing lifestyle … yet most people don’t have the faintest clue how to cook with them. That’ll change this week.
Week 9: Understanding Fat and Mastering the Pan
Ever wonder what “healthy fat” really means (and if it makes you gain weight)? I’ll answer that this week, and show you how to USE healthy fats in your kitchen.
Week 10: Smart Budget Strategies
By now your eating (and food buying) patterns have shifted dramatically and, at first, it can take a toll on your budget. This week, I’ll teach you strategies for saving money that actually reinforce a nourishing lifestyle.
Week 11: Meal Planning
Here’s where you gain back your time investment. I’ll show you how 30 minutes can save you hours (and loads of stress!) each week.
Week 12: The Balance of Plenty
Is guilt still tripping you up? We’ll end the program by tying everything together in a way that banishes guilt once and for all.
If you’re thinking “I don’t have time,” trust me that My Nourish Mentor will actually MAKE time for you. The 2-3 hours a week you spend on the program will be gained back in the way you plan and cook your meals.
If you’re thinking you can’t afford this, think about how much you’re costing you and your family by not knowing what to eat (did you know that preventable illnesses make up 90% healthcare costs?).
If you’re thinking “Nothing has worked in the past…this isn’t going to work for me either,” I’m here to tell you, you’re wrong. Just read the quotes from some awesome people about how much My Nourish Mentor changed their lives … and guess what? They’re just like you.
