I too had no idea Lia - although I've seen hints of this through your writing, especially about your daughter. Thank you for sharing this. You do seem full of "vitality and vibrance". We have a discussion going on the nurse website about nutrition and how little veggies/fruit Americans eat - I've linked your site to a couple of folks who tend to think like the folks who come here.

I'm going to make this wheat berry recipe - after I try the Qabili Pilau recipe that a nurse placed on that nutrition thread tonight. http://www.saveur.com/article/Recipes/Kabul-Style-Lamb-and-Rice-Pilaf

I'm loving our garden - last night a plate of raw sliced carrots, cucs, cherry tomatoes and then cooked beets and yellow and green squash, homemade spaghetti gravy . ... I'll miss it this Winter. steph

Wow Lia. To see you now, and all your vitality and vibrance, I never would have known all that you've been through. You are an angel and a ray of hope to us, your readers, that transformation and healing are so POSSIBLE! I will be anxiously awaiting parts 2, 3, and 10!

Couscous & Consciousness ... Thank you! It's harder than I thought it would be. I guess I'm used to skirting it and referring to it, but really digging down and putting myself back there was quite a trip. It means a lot to hear it's falling on welcome ears; I appreciate the encouragement!

Julie ... Thank you. And, no, I haven't--although I wish I'd seen your comment about 4 hours ago when I was stocking up on books to take to Rancho La Puerta this week! I'll have to give it a read when I get back.

OMG. Lia, what a painful journey. That said, such suffering is always transformational, and I look forward to reading the rest of your story as it unfolds. Thank you so much for sharing your story so openly and honestly - that takes real courage.
