So much news these last few days on the seafood front lots of it coming out while I was preparing for, conducting and traveling home from Chicago!Do you know why barramundi isn't on the list? I was surprised to see it. It's got the health Omega-3s, it's sustainably aquacultured, seems to meet all the criteria listed in the report. Just curious.I use the same pincers technique. What a great recipe. Mussels are perfect: they can be seasoned in many different ways, (Asian flavors and Mediterranean, two favorites) quick, sustainable. Just nothin' wrong about 'em!Cheers,
JackieOh, and don't forget the 5 point plan for talking to your fishmonger you submitted in last year's Teach a Man to Fish event!

Thanks for summing it up. Thanks for writing about such an important subject.A couple of related tidbits: 1) Ramekins in Sonoma (www.ramekins.com) has recently made a commitment to sustainable seafood by becoming possibly the nation's first sustainable seafood cooking school! and 2) perfectly coinciding with your piece, there's an article in the SF Chronicle today about the emergence of trout, an inexpensive, sustainably farmed fish and a delicious alternative to closely-related salmon, on restaurant menus (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2009/10/22/DDD91A1T5R.DTL)!

Fantabulous article, Lia.
